I saw leadership in my last organisation (The Message Trust) from the founder (Andy Hawthorne). Andy has an amazing leadership gift to cast vision and inspire others to follow him. An example of this was him setting a culture of prayer and mission. He would often say everyone in the organisation needs to keep prayer hot and mission hot. This was set by him as a leader and he put aside a day a month for prayer and vision which the whole team had to attend. These became precious days of the team coming together and seeking the Lord, this set a culture throughout the whole organisation of what was important. Andy ensured we moved towards the vision God had given the organisation, it was a collective and not about him. I appreciated this.

An example where I have not seen leadership was someone I worked with who positioned the whole organisation around his own personal agenda. The organisation moved and we all moved but it was to his drum beat and not for the good of the organisation, this caused a lot of damage and many people left and a lot of the vision died as his agenda was more important. So although there was movement it wasn’t in movement that was in the best interests of the organisation.
